Loving our weekends

So, we've been taking a lot of weekend adventures recently to visit different places around this great city. Several weeks ago, we went to Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island. It's a little island in the bay, halfway between San Francisco and Oakland. I wanted to find a little cove I had read about, but there was all kinds of construction on the Bay Brdge right there, that prevented us from setting up camp (or even getting there). So, we stumbled upon this wonderful little development of about 8 former Navy officers' houses. It was a beautiful setting, and all the houses were vacant. We had a nice picnic, played some ball, and checked out all the houses. Why are they vacant? They're huge, and gorgeous! They reminded me very much of the house I grew up in. (I will try to find and post photos later in life........ I know I have some great ones)

And what a view, from the foot of the Bay Bridge, facing Oakland. On the other side of the island (a 10 minute walk), is a full view of downtown San Francisco and Alcatraz.I'd love to scoff those up with 6 or 8 families from our mommies' group! Now, that would be fun. Make our own preschool... hmmm...

Oh, and I forgot to mention, there were beautiful lemon trees all around, with tons of fruit. We picked as much as we could carry, and came home to make fresh lemonade. mmmm!!

I took Riley swimming yesterday with our babysitter, Aly. Aly is a swim instructor, so I thought it would be good to get them in the pool together. Going forward, I'll let them do it alone, while I work out elsewhere in the gym, but I'm so glad I stayed yesterday. Riley was swimming ALL BY HERSELF! She was wearing a little floatie on her back, and she was doggy paddling as fast as I was! Wouldn't let either of us catch her when she jumped in, and wouldn't let us hold her hands until she needed a break. Unbelievable. And her face was so funny. Total determination. I'll bring my video camera next time... you can't imagine how well she did, without seeing it for yourself.

I'm lucky that not much has been happening lately, because I have SOOOO much old footage and photos to blog about! So, I started my backtracking with pre-Christmas activities, here at home.

Russell is in Chicago for a few days seeing a client, so hopefully I'll get to post some more updates tomorrow! Next, I'll be moving on to Grammy and Papa's house for the holidays...

But, to end with, here's an adorable video of Riley apologizing for spilling some water. Priceless!!! OMG, I HAVE TO GO HUG HER NOW!!!
