A day of ups and downs

First, an update on my father-in-law. This morning, Marvin has shown the early stages of pneumonia. The doctors caught it right away and put him on antibiotics, so we hope he’ll be all better soon. He was up and about a little bit yesterday, so that’s good news.

Riley and I got to have lunch with Rebecca today! It was fun to catch up over yummy food. This is what Riley thought of the food:

... but she had on a great looking outfit, ducks galore:

Let’s back up a minute. This is how I found our little Houdini this morning:

She goes to bed happy as a clam in her tight swaddle, and wakes up crying because she’s stuck, halfway out of it. Too much... I don’t know how she does it!!

Riley had another milestone today. One that I totally love. She started kissing me. Baby style. When I hold her on my shoulder, she turns her head to my face, and with an open mouth keeps touching my cheek until she makes her way to my mouth. Presses her lips onto mine, and pulls away with a huge smile. I have to say, there is nothing better than that. Except for the big slobbers I end up with!

On a much sadder note, my old standby kitty, the original baby, Sidney, is not doing so well. He’s been going downhill for a long time (he’s almost 16), and I took him to the vet today. She found a lump and suspects cancer. Also suspects kidney failure, among other things. Blood tests come back tomorrow. Basically, he’s a very sick baby. Here he is during better days:

Love you, old man.
