Yes, I know, you're all mad at me for not blogging in so long. I have to admit, I've been a bad mommy, and forgetting my camera. Plus, I've been distracted by this Jenny Craig thing... which, by the way, I suppose is going pretty well. If you like cardboard and watered down creamy sauces on everything. Mmmmm. I'm so envious of Russell and Riley, for what they eat. Even if it is sardines and tofu... But, I think it's working, since I wore a pair of pants today that a few weeks ago I could barely get into.
Random: Riley loves her mittens.
Let's see, where do we start? Well, Phil, the groundhog, says six more weeks of winter. Have you all heard of Phil? I know him well. Well, I know his hometown well. He's from Punxsutawney, PA, which is where my dad had a hunting camp all of my years growing up. We used to go there with a bunch of other families and have the best times ever. I have to admit, I've never seen Phil in person. But, I have met Flushing Meadows Phil at the Queens Zoo (when I worked for WCS). Not quite the same (especially since they're prairie dogs), but equally funny. I think I want to make a tradition of watching Groundhog Day, the movie, every year. That is one of the best movies ever made, IMHO.

This week, not too much has happened, except for Riley learning tons of new words. To name a few: star, shadow, turtle, bagel, light... Shadow is my favorite. I'll try to get it on tape.

Oh, but we did go swimming on Thursday, and she jumped right out of my arms, dove under water, and came up laughing her head off. I was terrified. Then Friday, we met Jen, Coral, Lisa, and Juliet at the Discovery Museum. What a fun time... except, Riley kept running off. I have to get used to the fact that coffee doesn't happen during Riley play. At least for now, she's a handful at playgrounds, until she's more sturdy on her feet, and knows her boundaries. She is just so freakin' fearless. Guess it's better than being scared of everything, but puts me to the test. She's good for me though, because I think otherwise, I'd probably be way too overprotective.
Random: Riley loves her penguin. And Happy Feet. And hugging her penguin while she watches Happy Feet:
Riley had her 18 month doctor's appointment. She's on to us. She cried the entire time we were in that exam room. Man, she was so unhappy. We won't even talk about when the shots happened... I agreed with Dr. Pepitone (aka Mimi) that the nurse should give her shots from now on, to prevent fear of the doctor. Aside from her fear of the doctor's office, she's doing really well. Her height and weight are both at the 50 percentile again. Meaning, her weight caught up with her height, and she's right in the middle of size for her age.

Today, daddy took her to the SF MOMA for the afternoon. They had a great time, and the weather was beautiful, so they had lunch in the gardens at Buena Vista. And she passed out on the way home. Here are photos of the day:

And here's one of her and daddy, just relaxing:
I got to do some grocery shopping with a coffee in hand, and not worry about any boredom tantrums. That was really nice. I'm considering doing a nanny share with another mom once a week, just for errands like that. Might not be a bad idea...
I'm hosting a playdate on Wednesday for Valentine's Day. I got some special treats for the babies, and some mylar balloons for them to drag all over the house. Riley's already discovered them, and won't put them down.
Oh! And I got some more cute photos of my nieces, Charlie and Quinn, in Toronto.
And a funny ending for you, a great series by daddy. She loves the laundry basket, and she loves making faces for the camera:
